The company Mezzegra Green Energy, based in the Algarve, will promote, on 26 October, at 5pm, an online event where the latest contributions within the hydrogen community will be discussed.

The event will be moderated by the company’s CEO, Paulo Bernardo, and will be attended by Anabela Cordeiro (vice-president and head of R&D at Mezzegra), António Mortal (coordinating professor at the Higher Institute of Engineering of the University of Algarve and Administrator of AREAL – Algarve Regional Agency for Energy and Environment) and Ricardo Izquierdo (director of Operations at pHYnix Iberia).

“At a crucial moment for the definition of the European Union’s energy policy, this initiative seeks to integrate contributions from the various EU business actors,” stresses Mezzegra Green Energy.

This European week will discuss the opportunities associated with the production and use of hydrogen-based fuels in different sectors of the economy and how hydrogen will play a key role in the European Green Pact.

The European Hydrogen Week is the largest annual event dedicated to hydrogen under the leadership of the Clean Hydrogen Partnership and its members, the European Commission, Hydrogen Europe, and Hydrogen Europe Research.

Building on the objectives of the EU Hydrogen Strategy, the event will discuss the opportunities associated with the production and use of hydrogen and hydrogen-based fuels in the different sectors of the economy and how hydrogen will play a key role within the European Green Pact.

Portugal has assumed the goal of achieving Carbon Neutrality by 2050, in the context of which is absolutely imperative the challenge of energy transition in the current with a view to almost total decarbonization of the sector. It is therefore necessary and strategic for the country an unequivocal collective response to this challenge.

The transition to a new energy model is the natural environment for the development of new business models and the relaunch of the economy, opening new opportunities for economic and industrial development for the country.
